Incarnation
For those who are familiar with the concept of (re-) incarnation this picture might help to visualize the down-going movement of the Ego-identity, singing itself out by spiraling along the periphery trough the fields of thicker

density, as well as by vertical going down into the centre of the physical field. In spiraling down the egoic frequencies build the forms in the successive subtle fields and finaly incarnates through the Ascendantpoint in the concrete physical plane. At the same time the Ego anchores itself directly in the centre representing the persons inalienable identity. |
The spiral movement realizes the realm of the Moon, while the vertical projection, being independant of that Moonsphere, is managed by the ruler of the Ascendant.
In the horoscope the Pars Fortunae indicates the direction in which the person can get connected to this objective, representative, central point.
Restraint
It is said that in some cases the Ego doesn't like the prospect of being bound to an adjusted life on Earth and restraints the way down. During their fysical life they keep hovering over their situation projecting themselves in filosophies, projects, ideals and dreams, or in a reality next level like provided by the internet or drugs. They may inspire others with their optimism and enthusiasm. But also some hesitation is seen by preserving themselves in connecting to the rude facts.
When in second instance the will to live is pushing itself through the projects may be carried out yet and come to realization in the concrete world.
Eagerness
On the other hand the Ego might be driven by the eagernees to get grip on the the fields of factual manifestation longing to express and enjoy itself in it. In some cases his eagerness is so vehement that his outgoing spiral overshoots the initial aim by passing its objective of the Asendantpoint. In this going past reality, we see a manifestation of the self which can not be overlooked or neglected. Beside an often seen central position we also see a consuming and savoring attitude in life, as well as egocentrism and bottomless longings.
When in second instance the unseparable unity of life is recognized the central position may function as an handhold and support for others.
Realization of the Ascendantpoint
A well aimed singing out of the manifestation song by the Ego and a carefull approach, may give a productive connection with the Ascendantpoint. Here ruler 1 is consiously deployable to contribute to every day reality, also effective in situations where he or she is not present in person.
